Medicare and most insurance companies cover the cost of treating painful varicose veins. Spider veins, if symptomatic, may also be covered; however, spider veins that are cosmetic in nature and are not covered. It is possible that spider veins are a symptom of a larger problem in which case insurance would pay for treatment of the underlying medical problem.
