Charles has more than 15 years of vein expertise and performs the majority of ultrasound-guided treatments at Carolina Vein Specialists. Charles graduated from NOVA Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with a B.S. in physician assistant studies in 1999. Following that, he began medical training at a vein center in Jacksonville, Florida. He then spent six years learning, and eventually teaching vein procedures to more than 400 doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurses. He joined Carolina Vein Specialists in 2005.
Prior to his career in the field of medicine, Charles spent 17 years in the Navy as a diver. During his career he has been decorated with two Legion of Merits, a Navy Commendation Medal, two Navy Achievement Medals, diving salvage warfare specialist pin, submarine warfare pin and National Defense Medal. Charles retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of service from the US Navy in 1994.
Charles and his wife Christine have three adult children and three grandchildren. He is a Master Mason at Gate City Lodge 694, member of The American Legion Post 386, Fellow of American Academy of Physician Assistants, Fellow of North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants and a member of American College of Phlebology. Charles and Chris are avid travelers.
