VenaSeal™ Closure System
A safe, effective treatment for individuals with varicose veins, VenaSeal involves introducing a medical-grade adhesive carefully (through a catheter) into the larger, invisible, non-surface saphenous vein that feed into visible varicose veins. VenaSeal provides some key advantages over other treatments, including vein ablation using radiofrequency (RF) or laser. Specifically, VenaSeal does not require large amounts of tumescent anesthetic (it’s painless!), regional nerve blocks or pre-procedure medications.
One key advantage is that, in the experienced hands of our expert vein doctors, VenaSeal takes only about 15 minutes. It also eliminates the risk of skin burns or nerve damage associated with RF or laser vein ablation, and patients are able to return to their normal activities immediately following their treatment… without pain medications or compression stockings. Performing the VenaSeal using ultrasound guidance enables our doctors to achieve precise placement and use of the adhesive agent in order to seal the vein shut most effectively. Most importantly, VenaSeal has been shown in several studies to have a very high success rate that is on par with ablation techniques but without their risks.
